Moving Floor Mechanism at the Rochester City Hall and Opera House, Rochester, NH Produced and Narrated by Professor Landis K. Magnuson Landis K. Magnuson is the former chair of the English Department of St. Anselm College and the Director of their Anselmian Abbey Players. Professor Magnuson is an expert on architect George Gilman Adams’ moveable floor mechanism, of which the Rochester Opera House is the only such floor remaining in existence today. Professor Landis K. Magnuson is the author of two articles for Theater Design and Technology: New England Yankee Ingenuity (1992) details George Gilman Adams’ City Hall/Opera Houses. The Last Moving Floor in Action (2006) details the restoration of the floor of the Rochester Opera House. The Professor is a cherished friend of the Rochester Opera House.
