The infamous murder mystery with a 23 year history in Rochester is back - and taking over the Opera House Stage (and City Hall!)! Fan favorites Dixon DaCooter and the Lilac City Angels are back, and bringing along a cast of zany characters in a limited run of this interactive murder mystery.

This show is going to be outrageous! With live musical parodies that span from musicals to rock and roll, great vocal talent with oversized characters, and a theater tour that will take you through the Opera House and City Hall to discover clues - this show will have you laughing in the aisles and scrambling to be the one to find out who dun it!

Note: This show is R-rated, due to adult content and language. If you are easily offended, this may not be for you. Tickets include reserved table seating, light snacks, venue tour refreshments, and dessert (dinner is not included in this event).

Featuring smash performances of musical theatre hits from Mean Girls, Little Shop of Horrors, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Waitress, Shucked, and more! Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.

Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure. This performance is By Kids, For Kids, and features performers 7-14 years of age!

This performance runs approximately 50 minutes, and is appropriate for all ages.

It's the ultimate beach party that’s good clean fun for all ages. Over their ten-year history, the band has travelled from Maine to Barbados, Cape Cod to Chicago. The Kings of Queen: A Tribute to Queen

Lead vocalist Emo Alaeddin’s vocal tone and range are unparalleled. Blessed with an abundance of musicality and stage presence, not to mention a striking resemblance to Freddie Mercury, Emo almost single-handedly recreates the experience of attending a live Queen performance.

Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience is a rock 'n roll parable with a significant message for today's audiences, based on the hit children's book by Mo Willems. Wilbur and all his fellow naked mole rats in the Tunnel have always been, well...naked. Wondering what other possibilities are out there, Wilbur discovers a love for clothing and style. When word of his new passion turns the Tunnel upside down, he proves to everyone that there's no need to be just like everyone else.

Travel to breathtaking destinations, embark on daring expeditions, and celebrate the most remarkable outdoor achievements – all from the comfort of your seat. We are thrilled to announce the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be featured on the historic Rochester Opera House stage. It features a unique lineup of films that seek to inspire through stories of adventure, discovery, and exploration in the outdoors. Films highlight remote cultures, intense expeditions into exotic landscapes, and bring action sports into sharp focus. 

The festival will screen different films including short, four-to-five minute films interspersed with longer, 35-plus-minute features. Boyz Gone Wild: The Ultimate 80s Rock Tribute w. Matty and the Penders

Boyz Gone Wild is the Ultimate 80's Rock Tribute.....fronted with both male and female vocalists, the band delivers a full 80's concert experience. The Boyz will take you back to the decade when big hair, spandex and fishnet dominated the stage. Since 2004, Boyz Gone Wild has performed hundreds of shows all over New England, playing all of the favorite songs from the 80's era. Join the band and sing along as they celebrate their 20-year anniversary at the Rochester Opera House.

Little Bits of Light
April 10-14
ROH THEATER SERIES

In this unique adaptation of "I Never Saw Another Butterfly," playwright Amanda Faye Martin intertwines poems and artwork from children at the concentration camp Terezin with major historical events and her own family’s history. The story follows Pepicek, an optimistic Czech boy, and Werner, an isolated young man who recently discovered he’s Jewish, during their time at Terezin. Tension builds as the camp anticipates a visit from the Red Cross and children are whisked away to places unknown. Despite the harsh reality inside the camp, Pepicek and Werner must find moments of unity, a sense of identity, and little bits of light. "Little Bits of Light" is best suited for audiences ages 10 and up. ​

Motor Booty Affair has been lighting up stages across America with their 70’s extravaganza for several years, dubbed “The Ultimate Disco Party Band”. Latin Dance Party w. Primo Cubano

Maine-made Cuban band Primo Cubano plays traditional Cuban dance music called “SON”  dating back to the turn of the  20th Century. Son is the most popular style to come out of Cuba and is the primary contributor to the blend of Latin styles today known as Salsa.  It was first a music of the country people and eventually migrated to Havana, where it was urbanized and began to draw a wider audience.

Primo Cubano consists of Paul D’Alessio on Tres Cubano and vocals, Marc Chillemi on Trumpet, percussion and vocals, Lenny Hatch on Congas, Bongo and Bell, Duane Edwards on Upright Bass, and Eric Winter on Timbales, percussion and vocals.

William Shakespeare's Macbeth

RPAC PERFORMANCE SERIES

 Something wicked this way comes. Experience the drum-beating, hair-raising, blood-pumping, two-faced production of Shakespeare’s Tragedie of Macbeth. Devastated by the loss of their child, and beaten down by endless military campaigns, Macbeth and his Lady seize upon a prophecy that seems to offer them a means of salvation. But their salvation comes at a terrible price, and the consequences of their actions ultimately threaten to destroy their land, their love, and everything they hold dear. This production is a collaboration between Rochester Opera House, Glass Dove Productions, Theater in the Open, and Vicious Mole Theatre Collective.

Please note that the run time of this performance is approximately 90 minutes, and is suitable for ages 10 and up.

NH Fiddle Ensemble

The NH Fiddle Ensemble, now in their 15th year, brings together a dedicated group of 120 amateur musicians with ages ranging from 9-89. This community orchestra, featuring fiddles, guitars, banjos, mandolins, basses, harps, cellos and even some horns, is backed by professional musicians, delivering heartwarming and energetic performances. The concert features vocal and instrumental songs from many styles of music including Bluegrass, Country, Celtic, World Music, Swing, Blues and more. Amazingly awesome and inspiring performances!

A Band of Brothers: An All Star Tribute to The Allman Brothers Band

The brainchild of ace Boston guitarists Ryan Taylor and Johnny Trama, this collective, more than a mere homage, harness the Allman Brothers tradition as a vehicle to bring a unique and exciting experience every night. 

​The ensemble features artists from an array of bands including - North Mississippi Allstars , Pink Talking Fish, Neighbor, Dub Apocalypse, Peter Wolf's Midnight Travelers, Dickey Betts Great Southern, Slightly Stoopid, Sonya Rae Taylor, Band of Killers and more.

The Moon-Spinners Mystery: A New Ballet by Sole City Dance

Join Sole City Dance as we present our newest production. The Moonspinners Mystery is a modern-day story set in Greece about Nikki, a young detective grieving the loss of her mother. She stumbles upon Mark, a young man also on vacation, who has witnessed something he shouldn’t have and needs her help. In her mission to help find Marks lost sibling and uncover the secrets of the island Nikki crosses paths with Sofia, the local innkeeper, Eleni, a schoolteacher who has fallen for Mark, Eleni’s helpful school children, Agnes, the most resourceful of the children, as well as Frances, Nikki’s cousin who follows her to Greece. All the while Nikki’s mother along with the three ancient nymphs, the moonspinners, watches over them all.‌

​The work explores grief and letting go, but mostly, love using the art of ballet and modern to tell the story.

James and the Giant Peach

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach... and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach – among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities – but, after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements.

Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building. A delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, the creative possibilities with James and the Giant Peach are endless. Actors will love playing the outlandish characters and performing brand new material from one of Broadway's hottest duos.

Yellow Brick Road: A Tribute to Elton John

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band

The legendary East Coast Rock’n’Roll group John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band began their career in 1972 and achieved mainstream success in the 1980s with the Eddie & The Cruisers – Motion Picture Soundtrack.  The hit single “On the Dark Side” held the Number One position on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts for five consecutive weeks. The album sold over 3 million copies and was certified triple Platinum by the RIAA.
​
The title track from the group’s 1985 follow-up album “Tough All Over” became their second Number One single on the Billboard Rock charts and the song “C-I-T-Y” reached the Billboard Top 20.  John Cafferty’s solo track “Hearts on Fire” was featured in the Sylvester Stallone film “Rocky IV” and he received his second double Platinum soundtrack award.  Over the years, John has placed 35 songs in major motion pictures.

Juston was born in Portsmouth, NH and grew up living on the border of New Hampshire and Maine. In the late 1990’s after spending seven years as a Deputy Sheriff in rural Maine, he traded his gun for a microphone and moved to NYC to pursue a career in comedy. He quickly became a regular at Comic Strip Live, Stand-Up New York, Dangerfield’s, Gotham, Caroline’s on Broadway and the New York Times called him, “Destined for stardom.”

Fiddler On The Roof

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

This "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities or, even more simply staged, Disney's Beauty and the Beast offers a great opportunity to bring your entire community together for family theatre at its best.

The historic Rochester Opera House, a not-for-profit organization, presents an annual performance season of shows for children, teens, adults, and seniors.  Built within City Hall in 1908, this beautifully restored theater is the only remaining theater in the world with a unique mechanism that raises the orchestra floor at an incline for amphitheater seating and levels the floor for dancing.
