FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (ROH PROFESSIONAL MAINSTAGE SERIES)
Book by Joseph Stein
Music by Jerry Block
Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick
Directed by: Patrick Dorow
ABOUT THE MUSICAL: Winner of nine Tony Awards when it debuted in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof is the brainchild of Broadway legends, Jerome Robbins and Harold Prince; songwriters, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick; and bookwriter, Joseph Stein. Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, this universal show is a staple of the musical theatre canon.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.
The show features a star turn in Tevye, among the most memorable roles in musical theatre. MTI's comprehensive choreographic guide allows productions to retain original director/choreographer Jerome Robbins' classic staging. With iconic and beloved songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.

Music by Alan Menken
Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice
Book by Linda Woolverton
Directed/Choreographed by: Taryn Herman
ABOUT THE MUSICAL: Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's classic, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, an international sensation that has been produced in 37 countries worldwide. The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
This "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities or, even more simply staged, Disney's Beauty and the Beast offers a great opportunity to bring your entire community together for family theatre at its best.

Ushers Needed!
Rochester Opera House is seeking volunteers to serve as ushers for our 2022-23 season. Each year there are over 130 events on average, happening every day of the week, with show times ranging from morning school performances to late into the evening. Ushers not only help patrons find their seat, sell concessions, and serve as greeters for community events, but also serve as ambassadors of our theater. Basic training is offered individually before a new usher starts, and is also offered as a general refresher each fall. Ushers also have the opportunity to see shows at our venue for free!
For more information, please call the box office at 603.335.1992 during business hours, or email boxoffice@rochesteroperahouse.org. We look forward to having you as part of our ROH crew!
